Non-marital fertility in Czechia and Slovakia Abstract The increasing number and proportion of children born out of wedlock, which Czech and Slovak society has been facing since the 1990s, is not only a sign of the transformation of reproductive behaviour, but also a current sociodemographic topic. Despite the fact that children born out of wedlock have today the same rights and status as children born in marriage, the situation in the past was very different. This bachelor thesis outlines how the perception of children born out of wedlock has developed since the earliest times, and summarizes the shift that has occurred to the present day. In doing so, it focuses specifically on two countries - Czechia and Slovakia. Although these two countries are neighbours and have been one republic since 1918, they have long differed, not only in family and reproductive behaviour. In addition to the differences between the two countries, the theoretical chapters also focus on the development of marital and non-marital fertility in the 20th and 21st century. The subsequent analytical section then describes this development between 1921 and 2020 using selected indicators and provides information on the characteristics of Czech and Slovak women who bear their children unmarried. Trends in marital and nonmarital fertility in the Czech Republic The aim of this paper is to analyze changes in marital and nonmarital fertility in the Czech Republic in the period 1980-2008, in terms of age, birth order and marital status. The impact of changes in the structure of women according to marital status and of fertility change in the intensity of the number and structure of live births was investigated. Outline the historical development of the social situation of children born outside marriage, and attempts to find answers to questions regarding the expanding phenomenon of unmarried motherhood and cohabitation. Throughout the analyzed period, a growing number and proportion of births outside marriage. At the end of the first decade of the 21st century in illegitimate union was born almost 39 % of live births. Attitude of unmarried cohabitation and unmarried children nascent mothers are no longer nearly as pessimistic as it was before. With the sharp decline of marriages concluded growing share of single women of reproductive age. Significant changes occurred only in the total number of live births, which fluctuated, and at the end of the period analyzed is stabilized above the one hundred thousand live births, but also a change in reproductive behavior, which is reflected in a marked increase...

Non-maritalfertility in Czechia and selecteddeveloped countries Abstract The aim of this diploma thesis is to interpret the changes and trends in the reproduction behaviour in Czechia, Italy and Japan between the years 1990 and 2019, focusing on non-marital fertility. The thesis summarizes previously published literature on the subject of reproduction behaviour in developed countries. Individual trends of non-marital fertility in Czechia are studied using several demographic analysis tools. The primary focus is directed towards the structure of live births by mother's age, legal marital status and educational attainment level, as well as child's birth order. Focusing on the population of children born out of the wedlock, the method of binary logistic regression shows that there is a link between the odds of giving birth to child out of the wedlock, and the age and educational attainment level of mother. For the purposes of this thesis, developed countries are represented by Italy and Japan. Apart from data analysis,the focus is directed towards the social and cultural dissimilarities in reproductive behaviour of these countries' populations. Non-marital fertility and unmarried cohabitations with children in the Czech republic

The objective of the thesis is to analyse the evolution of non-marital fertility from 2000 to 2015 and evolution of unmarried cohabitations with children in the Czech republic. The analysis is based on results of Census 2001 and 2011. Another task is focused on comparison of demographic characteristics of women, who gave birth outside the marriage and women, who were married in time of birth. The research on unmarried cohabitations with children is also related to marital cohabitations with children. The comparative method was used for this part of analysis. The description of historical evolution and the evolution within analysed period detect some factors, which affect non-marital fertility and the increasing number of unmarried cohabitations. The results of the analysis support the idea of diminishing family size and postponement of maternity. The fact, that non-marital fertility and unmarried cohabitation with a child is more typical for less educated women, has been proven.
Marriage and Parenthood in the Czech Republic in New Economic Conditions

This thesis deals with the relation between marriage and parenthood in the Czech Republic. The main object is to explore changes in the family behavior of young generations and to analyze the related demographic processes of fertility and nuptality. Special attention is paid to marital, extramarital and premarital fertility. The thesis searches for the answer of the question if the marital surroundings are still unique for the child upbringing or if the economic and value changes of the society after 1989 broke the traditional family formation. Another important object is to perform a cluster analysis. Czech districts are divided into the clusters, which are made to describe the current situation. The last part demonstrates the results of the quantitative survey, which helps to find out the public attitudes about family life.

It is manly focused on marital and non- marital fertility in the second half of the 20th century. The first part is devoted to trends and structures of fertility of the European Union members. The typology of the current European Union members was made by using cluster analyses based on trends of live birth outside marriage, level of fertility and mean age of mother at first birth. Second part of this thesis adresses development and structures of live births inside and outside marriage in countries of the Visegrad group (Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland) and Finland. relationship dependency between legitimacy of live births and their birth order, mother's age and education was found by using categorial variable method. Nonmarital and marital fertility in the Czech Republic and from international perspective. Trends, patterns and attitudes. Abstract The aim of this master thesis is to describe the development trends of marital and nonmarital fertility in the Czech Republic and to analyze selected indicators of fertility. As tools are used to certain methods of demographic analysis. The first part addressis the basic concepts related to the issue of marital and nonmarital fertility, data sources and a description of the historical development of nonmartial fertility. The analytical part include basic analysis of fertility by age, marital status, education, birth order and the decomposition of the total fertility rate and proportion of childern born outsider marriage in the Czech Republic and Austria too. Lone-parent family households in Czech and Slovak Republic after 1970 in the context of socio-economic and demographic development. Abstract This paper introduces the topic of families and households. The shift of attitudes and social values which are connected with single-parent family households is studied based on statistical surveys. This work elaborates changes in number and structure of single-parent family households in Czech and Slovak Republic since 1970 till present. The first part outlines the view of experts on a broad concept of family and the family cycle. The next part evaluates the long-term evolution of marriage, divorce, fertility and changes in society values. The changes in society values are correlated with formation, structure and number of single parent family households in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic before and after 1990. Reasons of increasing cohabitation in the Czech Republic or why people don't get married nowadays

Bachelor thesis "Reasons of increasing cohabitation in the Czech Republic or why people don't get married nowadays" deals with circumstances that could have influenced increase of cohabitation in Czech republic after 1989 and is searching reasons of unmarried couples for favouring this type of relationship. It brings an overview of theories that explains changes in family behaviour - part of which is also expansion of cohabitation - in developed societies existing in second half of 20th century. These emphasize mainly economical and cultural reasons. Furthermore it defines cohabitation and its two types: premarital cohabitation and cohabitation as alternative of marriage. The work describes evolution of cohabitation in our area in context of changes of family behaviour after year 1989. Considering theories it focuses on value of marriage - which is still high in our society - and also on former and recent state policy that influence expediency of marriage and cohabitation. Despite the fact that cohabitation is not made more favourable than marriage, supporting of marriage decreased.
